Forklift Driver

Job Purpose

Transport goods in a safe and timely manner to ensure schedules, customer requirements and health and safety rules are adhered to whilst maintaining high quality standards.

The Position

• Ensure all procedures relating to the safe operation of forklift trucks are strictly adhered to
• Ensure all paperwork is kept up to date and is completed fully and accurately i.e.: forklift check sheet, loading plans, rejects and hopper sheet
• Ensure forklift maintenance is carried out i.e. cleaning the forklift, water, oil, diesel, and tyre pressure
• Complete forklift checks at the start of each shift and any problems with your forklift must be reported immediately
• You must always operate your truck in a safe manner, checking loads are secure and being aware of people and avoiding damage to buildings and machinery
• Ensure the waste box is removed and emptied during and at the end of each shift
• Complete all paperwork relating to the role in a timely manner as requested
• Report to Management when bins or trays of raw material are found not to be labelled or are incorrectly labelled
• Load and unload lorries as required and to ensure that the correct paperwork is received and checked for goods in and given to the driver for dispatch
• Feed tablework with adequate raw material and empty trays when required
• When required, help collate all orders for dispatch in finished product cold-store and ensure that it is dispatched at correct temperature
• Comply with and follow procedures as laid down in the quality manual for Goldwood and ensure that product is produced to customer specification and legal requirements
• Fill hoppers with raw material to ensure production flows constantly
• All accidents etc. must be reported to your immediate supervisor as soon as possible after the incident occurs
• Check that raw material is suitable for purpose before tipping into hopper and report any issues before it is used
• Check and record raw material temperature before tipping and report any issues before use
• Ensure the hopper room is kept clean and tidy at all times

What we are looking for

• Forklift Counterbalance licence essential
• A good sense of balance
  
• A good eye-hand-foot coordination
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
• Thorough and pay attention to detail
